BBS Automation is a global manufacturer of highly automated production and assembly systems. The company designs and builds custom production lines for industries such as medical technology, automotive, consumer products, and electronics.
Within the group, BBS Automation Hallbergmoos specializes in high-performance automation for injection-molding production. Their systems remove plastic parts from molding machines and process them further — including inspection, assembly and packaging — at extremely high production speeds.
Together, BBS Automation companies design complex manufacturing systems where precise specification evaluation during the quotation phase is critical.
Without BoWatt
Before introducing BoWatt, the evaluation of customer specifications was largely manual.
Application engineers copied requirements from unstructured PDFs and Word documents into Excel sheets. Requirements were then manually assigned to engineering departments and evaluated individually.
Knowledge from previous projects was rarely reused. Valuable information remained buried on local file servers and old documents.
In 2023, BBS Automation started evaluating a software solution from another vendor to assign requirements to engineering departments. The contract was never finalized.
Around the same time, Steven Moore, CEO of BoWatt, got in touch after returning from a research stay at Stanford.
BBS Automation became BoWatt’s first co-development partner.
Over the following six months, the application engineering team worked closely with BoWatt’s product and engineering teams to build a prototype. That prototype later became BoWatt’s BoReq module.
With BoWatt
Today, the team relies on BoWatt for specification evaluation and has fully replaced Excel.
Customer specifications are imported directly into BoWatt. Requirements are automatically structured and distributed to the responsible engineering teams.
More application engineers and engineering managers have been onboarded step by step.
BoWatt has become a core tool for the application engineering team.

Outlook with BoWatt
Following the successful rollout in the application engineering team, BBS Automation plans to scale the use of BoWatt across additional teams and companies within the BBS Automation Group.
